Is it worth going? Analyze a new forest

cover 29 analizzare un bosco nuovo

Someone told you about it at the bar, or you saw it on the map by looking at the contour lines: a slope that seems tailor-made, a half-hour drive away. Should I go this Saturday, or is it a waste of time? Until yesterday, the app only responded to the woods you'd already marked. Now analyze any point, even one you've never set foot in.

What is it, said right away

It's a esteem, and it's worth saying before anything else. Look at three things: the weather forecast from that point up to a month back, the share and the time of yearHe doesn't look at anyone's locations, he doesn't look at anyone's finds, and he doesn't know what anyone else has found: those things don't come out of the phone of the person who marked them.

So this is an honest answer to a specific question: Are the conditions right in that forest these days? The tailor-made forecast—the one that predicts that porcini mushrooms will arrive in your beech forest three days later than in the chestnut grove down in the valley—comes later, when you start marking the harvests. It begins with an analysis, and continues with a diary.

How to do it

  1. On the first day you will find it on the home page, inside "Where do you start?". After that it is in Explore → Analyze a forest.
  2. Choose the point. You search for a country by name, or you drag the map under the crosshair — the crosshair stays still and the map moves, so you can catch the last meter with your finger without missing — and confirm.
  3. Choose the mushrooms. On the free plan, they're the ones you follow; with Premium, you get them from the entire catalog.
  4. Laws. The same bars are coming calendar: today's number, the shape of the days to come, and what is missing for the window to open.

Mushrooms that grow on wood aren't on the list, and that's intentional: for honey mushrooms, griffins, and the like, the weather isn't enough to predict anything, and a number made up out of thin air is worse than no number at all.

Three free analyses, and that means three

In the free plan the analyses are three in total, not three a day: they don't return at the end of the month and they don't recharge. With Premium, they have no limits.

One thing to know before spending: an analysis is valid for the day you do it. Reopening the same forest the same day, even if you change the mushrooms, costs nothing; the next day it's a new analysis. So it's best to carefully examine it, in its entirety, when you open it.

The point you analyze remains yours

The place you choose it doesn't come out of the phone: the server receives the message that you have performed an analysis, not where. It's the same principle as your places, and this also applies to the forest you're just evaluating — which is often the one you'd least like to talk about.

If you go there then

From the same screen there is «Mark an exit here». Sign up what you found - even nothing: the empty exits are those that they teach more —and from that moment the point becomes your forest, enters the calendar and the forecast begins to learn from you.

And it's also the fastest way to fill your calendar: with just one forest, the app has news about fifteen times a year; with four, forty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the test tell me if there are fungi?

No, and no one can tell you that. It tells you whether conditions in that spot are mushroom-producing these days, and what's missing when they're not. It's a weather forecast, not a guarantee of a harvest.

Are there three free analyses per day?

No: three in total. Reopening the same forest on the same day doesn't consume another, but the next day does. With Premium, there's no accounting.

Do you use other people's findings?

No. Weather, altitude, and time of year, and that's it. Not even the averages the app learns from those who choose to contribute count.

How is this different from my forest forecast?

Your seat forecast compares today's conditions with those of the days before. you, there, you found it: learn from your diary. The analysis doesn't have a diary to learn from, so it only talks about the weather. That's why the first one is more accurate, and that's why it's worth starting to record the outings.

Can I analyze a forest abroad?

Yes: the weather and quotas cover Europe, and the app knows the species' seasons even outside Italy. However, harvesting rules vary from country to country and should be checked before traveling.
