The diary over time

cover 05 diario funghi nel tempo

You need the forecast for Saturday. You'll need the diary in three years. It's the part of the app that doesn't download: you install an app in a minute, but you don't install ten seasons of your releases.

What's left of each release

Each find you save brings with it more than just a point on the map:

  • exact date, time and location;
  • photo, quantity, weight, species and notes, if you want to add them;
  • the altitude and type of forest;
  • the weather of the previous fifteen days, reconstructed alone;
  • and, if you have activated it, the GPS track of the exit, with distance and altitude difference.

At the moment you don't have to write almost anything: save with a tap and the rest completes itself, even after years.

The meteorological imprint of each discovery

Next to each mushroom found you can see what the rain and temperatures were like in the previous two weeks. It's the part that no one usually writes down, and it's the only one that really explains why something was there that day.

After a few seasons the footprint stops being a graph and becomes a reflection: you look at this week's weather and recognize at a glance whether it resembles a good year. It is a Premium function, and also applies to the entire release, not just the single find.

The notebook of every forest

Each place has its own page, year by year: how much it gave each year, between which dates, with which mushrooms. At the bottom is the line that you read first: «It is usually found here between September 5th and 20th». It is the typical window of that forest, obtained from your outings and not from a general calendar.

Be careful how you use it, because it is something that we have measured and proven wrong: the history of a place orders the exits worse of the weather. It's to know if you're early or late this year, not to decide on Saturday. That's why it's there the twelve-day calendar.

The notebook can be saved in a file and kept outside the app: it is a Premium function.

"It happened today"

It shows you what you had found on this same date, in years past. It is the most direct way to notice that certain woods, in certain weeks, repeat themselves - and to understand in three seconds whether this season is ahead or behind the others.

It's also there in the free plan, along with the totals of mushrooms, exits, kilometers and altitude difference.

Your season, and how it went last year

During the current season, the app keeps track of mushrooms, trips, kilometers and species, and displays the same point as the previous year. It's not a ranking: it's the way to answer the question we ask ourselves in mid-October, that is, whether it was really a poor year or whether it's just the impression of the last two bad Sundays.

With Premium there are also records and curiosities: the heaviest mushroom, the golden day, the highest, the longest outing. Small things, but yours — and the seats, as always, remain covered.

Your steps, and the gaps between the lines

On the map you can turn on the tracks of past releases. The interesting thing isn't the lines: it's the white spaces in between, that is, the pieces of forest where you've never set foot. After a few seasons you discover that you always turn in the same three hundred meters.

In the free plan you see the latest five releases, with Premium all of them.

The map of hot spots

Different from the previous one, and should be read differently: it says where you found it moreover, not where you've been. Each group of finds becomes a circle, as large as the crop and with the number on it. It serves to distinguish the forest that really gives from the one you return to out of habit.

The track doesn't lie

Under the ferns the GPS loses signal: this happens to all devices. Many apps, in that case, draw a straight line between the last valid point and the first good one, drawing a piece of the route that you have never walked.

Not here: the track yes break. And at the end of the exit the app tells you if you were walking in that hole and how many meters it didn't record. An inflated mileage is useless; knowing that you were climbing into the hole, yes.

The seats are arranged whenever you want

Places arise on their own from discoveries, so at the beginning they have provisional names. Just tap on the title to rename them: the new name applies at once to all the finds and all the exits of that place, without having to open them one by one.

How much is there, and what happens if you stop paying

In the free plan the diary shows 20 finds And 10 releases (up to 100 and 50 unlocked by watching a video). With Premium there is no limit.

Two clarifications that matter more than the numbers. The first: recording is never blocked. You always save the mushroom in your hand, even beyond the threshold; what is limited is see it, because the extra cards remain blurred in the diary. The second: if the Premium expires you lose nothing — discoveries, exits and places remain where they are, they simply fade back beyond the free thresholds, and they all reappear if you reactivate them.

Because it is the real added value

The diary is not an album of memories: it is the engine. Your releases are one of the sources from which the app learns, and the more the diary fills up, the more the prediction stops being generic. It has two qualities that no competitor can copy: it grows on its own over time, and the data is yours alone.

Frequently asked questions

What “happened today”?

It shows you what you had found on this same date in previous years. It's the fastest way to tell if the season is early or late.

Can I record old releases?

Yes, and it's the quickest way to leave: you record the exit afterwards, assign it to the right place and the weather for that day is reconstructed on its own. Three rebuilds in the free plan, unlimited with Premium. You see how to start the diary even out of season.

Does the typical window of the place tell me when to go back?

No, and it shouldn't be used that way: it's a diary. It tells how that forest has behaved over the years; to decide the exit you need the twelve-day calendar, which looks at the current weather.

If the Premium expires, will I lose data beyond the free limit?

No. They all stay where they are: they only return faded beyond the thresholds, and reappear in full if you reactivate them.

Is my diary data private?

Yes. The diary and your posts remain yours: no other user sees them, not even your friends, not even during a challenge.
